A highly concentrated laser beam of light is attracted by the hemoglobin in the blood vessel. The laser causes the vein to break up and disappear. A few treatments may be needed, depending on the type and size of the vein. The first treatment alone provides a dramatic improvement. You will experience minimal discomfort or no pain at all. For patients with sensitive skin, a very strong topical anesthetic can be applied to minimize discomfort.

The most common side effect is bruising, or purpura, around the treated area. This will resolve within days of the treatment, and we will follow up with you to make sure any discomfort can be reduced or eliminated.

The laser vein removal is permanent and though you may be prone to vein development in other areas, no vein will appear in the area treated by the laser.
